A Brief Introduction

Hello, my name is Evan, and the guy next to me is my fiancé Tennyson. As a couple we have a few interests that are similar and a few that are different. For example, we are both in the entertainment industry and have a love of the process of making films and watching them. There are things we like separately as well. He has a love for mythology and pantheons. I have a love a Disney and stickers.

One thing we really enjoy doing together is trying out new restaurants. And though it sounds fun, and perhaps a bit romantic, it is a lot more difficult than it sounds. You see, Tennyson is a bit of a foodie. He actually knows places around Los Angeles based on where the “best burger” is, and doesn’t like another area because the “pizza was rubbish”. He can tell you exactly why it is the best: the flavor profiles, the toppings, what could have been better.

Then there is me. I am autistic. I have a fear of trying things outside of my comfort level. Every time I order I a burger I order it the exact same way. I don’t want to try new toppings. I don’t want weird sauces. I just like things the way I like them. My food adventures are about having the same thing at a different restaurant. Which obviously is very different from Tennyson.

Hello! My name is Tennyson, and the lady next to me is my fiancé Evan! Much of our relationship is defined by the things we have in common, and parts of it are defined by the things that make us different. On the one hand, we’re both very committed to our entertainment careers and strengthening our showbusiness communities. On the other, she’s got a love of mythology and pantheons and I’m passionate about classical theater and martial arts.

One thing we definitely struggle with as a couple is trying new restaurants. Personally, I’m excited by the chance to give new foods and new chefs a chance to show me my new favorite dish, or to delight me with a superior or surprising presentation of something I already know I love. For her part, Evan is someone who thrives on consistency. Taking in new sensory information can make any given day a lot harder than it needs to be… so for us, trying new restaurants is literally an adventure!

Fortunately for me, Evan also loves learning and discovering new things to love. While trying new foods can be a stressful and sometimes even frightening experience, she loves and trusts me enough to let me be her support system, her partner, and sometimes her guide through the culinary wonderland (and sometimes wasteland) that is Los Angeles! Stay tuned as we share the delights, the challenges, and even the battles that arise from our efforts to find new and wonderful foods to share in our journey together!
