Today I had the pleasure of doing what I love with the person I love. I absolutely love being on set. It is my happy place. That is until lunch. Being a picky eater can be really hard on set. They order catering to feed the 30-200 people on set, and it is to their best effort, what most people would enjoy. A protein, a salad, a veggie, a carb…and so on.
EVAN: Today was Pallea. Which is a Spanish rice dish with saffron and a protien (chicken and ribs today). I have had pallea before, it wasn’t great, it wasn’t bad. But I definitely was NOT feeling it today. The salad was garlic (gobs of it) vinegrette. Again, I would rather not. The salad toppings were free of sauce, so I opted for cucumber and tomato with some ranch on it. Not the greatest lunch, but it was better option for me than the other things they were offering. All I can say is thank goodness they had a good crafty (snacks for non-show people).

TENNY: While I don’t want to name the production or the caterer for the sake of confidentiality, Evan took a look at both of our plates and thought this was the perfect opportunity for one of our blogs. Having never had homemade pallea, I loved how the chicken grease and the spices saturated the rice – and the meal was served out of traditional pallea pans, ensuring that the rice never got too moist or stayed too hard. That salad was oily as all get-out, but the heaps of roasted garlic that went into it made me forget everything else and just enjoy the crunchy garlicky romaine. All in all, this meal felt and tasted like it was cooked by people who care about me… which is exactly what on set catering is supposed to taste like.
While we weren’t on set very long, we met some new people and saw some old friends – and we shared a nice meal. Thank you, friend who got us the work on set today! Thank you Evan, for sharing this life and this crazy industry with me.
